This kind of looks like a compost. Has real hard smell of chemicals to it. I see no dirt in this. I'm leaving it in the sun to dry out get the smell of the chemical out. I purchased this at Mills fleet farm in Wausau Wisconsin.. Good pricing. But we'll have to see if it kills plants from the chemical smell. You at Sylva probably should look into this. I see no topsoil or no dirt, lots of bark in branches. Maybe it's a cheap way of selling topsoil. Put all the compost together and a little water and treatment to it. It's more weight per bag than. So I'm only leaving a two-star rating. If everything grows good coming up here. I'll write another review.
We had mulch blown into multiple large garden beds, with many plants and bushes already established. Blown in mulch was definitely the way to go...it was far faster than the old wheelbarrow method. The work was outstanding and the professionalism of the Sylva installers and the level of detail they put into making everything look great was truly impressive. They exceeded my expectations in every way.
I purchased over 40 bags of Sylva Corp’s Brown Mulch & 8 bags of Home Depot’s Vigoro Brown Mulch. Both were installed at the EXACT same time. 3 days later, it rained & as one can see, Sylva’s Mulch was a disappointment as the brown coloring washed away. A letter was sent to Sylva Corp from Menards regarding this issue (along with a photo and receipts) & Sylva Corp was asked to contact me. Needless to say, I never heard a reply from Sylva Corp until I contacted them? When speaking to a Sylva Corp rep regarding this issue, it was like I was on ‘trial’ for some major crime! “Again, when did you install the mulch?”, “are you sure it was installed at the same time?”, “when did you say it rained?” Long story short, STAY AWAY from Sylva Corp & their mulch, both are not worth the time.
Bought Sylva topsoil at Menards because it said it was topsoil on the package. It was also reasonably priced. It did NOT say it was compost! It is obviously compost due to all the sticks, mulch, AND RUBBER PIECES I found once I started using it as top dressing. Warning...use this stuff as fill only!
This company does not honor the product guarantees they put on their own bags. They guarantee color for one year, but mulch began significant fading within two weeks of installation. I worked for 8 months trying to reach a solution without any reasonable offer from them to resolve what should have been a simple matter. I am lobbying Menards to discontinue selling Slyvacorp products. Terrible service and products. 5-1-19 Update: The mulch was installed in dry weather and care was taken so that it was not exposed to irrigation. I have installed other brands of mulch for decades in residential and commercial applications and have NEVER seen fading like this (some of it turned completely white!). If you are looking for a quality mulch and a company that keeps its guarantee promises, go e
